Life First Excerpt + Fun Black History Month Idea

Ruth-and-the-Green-Book-Cover
This is a great book about the Green Book that Black travelers had to use in the South if they wanted to be sure to find hotels and restaurants that weren’t “White only.”

I have two quick items to post about today. First, a Life First excerpt is being featured on Melinda Brasher’s blog. So, if you haven’t read the book, check out the post.

Second, my friend Rebecca posted on Facebook the other day that she was reading her kids a different Black History book for bedtime every night for the month of February. I thought it was such a cool idea, I copied her (imitation = flattery, right?). I decided to pin my book selections, so if anyone thinks it might be fun to spice up their bedtime books, you can check out the ones I’ve done. (I started late, as I didn’t get the idea until Rebecca posted on Facebook, which was after the month was already underway. I may go a little into March to make up for it; but maybe we’ll overlap and save some Black women for then, as March is Women’s History month). Here’s the Pinterest page: http://www.pinterest.com/rjcrayton/black-history-month-bedtime-books/. I don’t have a month’s worth of books yet, either. So, if you have suggestions, I’m up for them. Drop me a line.

Finally, for those who subscribe to the blog via email, sorry about the multitude of posts recently. I’ve had a few guest features as part of being the Author of the Week for My Big Fat Indie Book Gang Goodreads group. I wanted to make sure I mentioned each site that featured me as part of the week received a shout out on my blog, but that’s meant an excess of posts this week. I will not be blowing up your inboxes everyday anymore. My plan is to have only a Monday and Friday post in the coming week.

Cheers! Have a great rest of the weekend.
